Agril. Extension Education

The Department of Agricultural Extension came into being during 2011 and started offering courses in Agricultural Extension to the B.Sc. (Agri) students, as one of the compulsory subjects in the Degree Course Curriculum. The Department offers total of five courses.  Newly admitted students to the B Sc (Hons) Agriculture degree are introduced to the world of village life and behavioral dynamics in rural setting and instilled the core values and professional ethics of the degree among them through basic courses i.e., ‘Constitution of India, Rural Sociology and Educational Psychology’ and ‘Human Values and Ethics’. The students are made to travel through the different landscapes of the Agriculture Extension Education through the course Fundamentals of Agricultural Extension Education. The students are also imparted with the requisite communication skills and the personality development techniques to survive and thrive in the present globalised scenario through the course ‘Communication Skills and Personality Development’. Then, the students are introduced and updated to the entrepreneurship development and business management skills to take up the challenge starting and running their own ventures in future through the course ‘Entrepreneurship Development and Business Communication’.  As an elective course, ‘Agricultural Journalism’ is offered as elective course for the students to specialize in the field of Farm Journalism.

            The Department is also actively involved in the implementation of Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) programme under Student READY for the final year students during VII semester.
